Shoppers vs. Shoplifters

Rule Set

“Complete your last-minute shopping or ruin someone’s day!”

 

# of players: 3 - 6

Duration: 15 - 20 min

 

Objective:

Shoppers:  

 

All shoppers must complete their list! Pay for all your items at the Exit before 10 rounds are over!

Shoplifters: 

 

Prevent shoppers from completing their list after 10 rounds!

Board Setup:



 

  

 

  • Place the Main Entrance/Exit card on the bottom, as shown above. 

  • Place Warehouse cards on any corner, as shown above.

  • Shuffle the Department cards and place them face down randomly on the remaining empty slots to create a 3x3 card board. 

  • Once the Department cards are placed, flip them to reveal the department locations.

 

Stock Your Inventory:

  • Place 3 chips on each named Department (NOT the Entrance and Warehouse cards). The chips in the same department must be of the same color.

    • Red = Grocery

    • Orange = Pets

    • Yellow = Clothes

    • Green = Personal Care

    • Blue = Electronics

  • Place the gem on the cash prize tile labeled ($)

How to Start

  1. Shoppers start by choosing a List Card and the respective Starting Cash amount (Located on the top right corner of the List Card).

    • Any left over Starting Cash can be used as regular money.

  2. Shoppers and shoplifters begin at the Start/Checkout tiles in the Main Entrance.

  3. Shoppers start first and then shoplifters start.

Where Did You Land?

Shopper Chance:

Draw a Shopper Chance card. Only shoppers can draw a card!

Shoplifter Chance:

Draw a Shoplifter Chance card. Only shoplifters can draw a card!

General Chance:

Draw a General Chance card. Anyone who lands here can draw a card.

Cash Prize:

Shoppers only! Win $60

  • Roll two dice. Get a 7 to win!

  • Pay $10 to increase your chances. Roll one die. Roll a 4, 5, or 6 to win!

  • Only one shopper can get the cash prize per game. You can divide it evenly or keep it.

Core Game Loop

Mechanics

  • Each turn, the shoppers and shoplifters roll 2 dice.

  • Players will move exactly the distance their dice shows.

  • Players can move freely on the tiles. Side-to-side movements only, no diagonal movements.

  • If a shopper or shoplifter encounters a chip, they can take the item (1 item per turn).

  • If a shoplifter lands on a shopper spot, they can steal 1 item from them.

  • If a shopper lands on another shopper's spot, they can trade or gift each other 1 cash or item.

  • On an arrowed tile, the player will follow the arrow.

  • Shoplifters can teleport between Warehouses up to 3 times.
